The team have returned from a wonderful time in Bunia and Butembo in the Democratic Reublic of Congo. We were inevitably tired when we returned home but we were overjoyed to have seen so much of the love of God poured out on his people in both places.
School for Pastors in Bunia:
Most of the pastors had been taught by us on previous mission trips and all left refreshed, renewed and re-envisioned. Some of the pastors had already been actively applying our teaching so it was good to hear their stories. As the school progressed we saw joy surfacing amongst the pastors and a strong bond of unity emerged. It is inspirational to see how many of the pastors have great courage.
After the theory came the practical application of our teaching. The pastors ministered to a 1,000 plus secondary school children as well as 60 women. We also took the opportunity to pray for the land at the primary and secondary schools.
There were many testimonies of inner emotional and spiritual healing during the school as can be seen from the following quotes:
“I thought I had retired but God is training me to see these teachings and not retire. I am praying as I have seen another mission ahead of me”.
“At each teaching I reflected on my home situation and I have lots of new teachings to go home with”.
“My spiritual life was like a crop that had received heavy rain and I have no fear and the word of God has increased in me.”
Training day for 50 female counsellors in Bunia:
It was a great joy to see the counsellors* at work adapting the teaching and dramas to make them their own.
Conference for 50 female counsellors in Butembo:
The women attending this conference arrived subdued, with their heads down, but went out stronger and rejoicing. It was clear to see that God had been at work through our teaching and ministry.
Our ministry in practice:
It was fantastic to find in Butembo a powerful group of women actively and courageously putting our teaching into practise, including praying for the land.
We thank God for 3 weeks of excitement, challenges, many answered prayers and prophet words which came into being.
“Come let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation”. Ps 95:1
