Glasgow Regional Day

glasgowIt was while serving at the Army’s Personnel Centre in Glasgow that Jan Ransom met colleagues who have become close friends and have been instrumental in the development of Flame International. Jan and a Flame team returned to run a Regional Day in February 2006. One of the team members writes:

‘I was thrilled to travel to Glasgow on the Wednesday and join with my old Home Group, a lively all-age group of Burundi and Rwandan Christians. It was a delight to meet with them and to share something of what God has been doing through Flame International in Burundi and to hear a little of their stories.

Among the many initiatives run by QPB is the aptly titled ‘Daughters of Destiny’ a group of young women passionate to serve God, who meet monthly for teaching, ministry and fellowship. Jan and I met with them on the Thursday evening and the gracious presence of the Holy Spirit was powerful throughout the evening. We ended with a great time of ministry when we witnessed the healing hand of God at work.

glasgowSaturday was the Regional Day and we were greatly encouraged at the large turnout of over 100 people both from QPB and other denominations. Other members of the Flame team joined us for what was to be a memorable occasion as we shared testimonies from our mission trips to Sierra Leone, Burundi and South Sudan. It was very moving to be reminded of what God has done so far through the work of Flame albeit just the work that can be seen! Jan taught a number of sessions on Healing the Human Spirit which touched many deeply, bringing them to a point of repentance, forgiveness and healing. One lady, a Roman Catholic, had come with a friend because she was told to go to ‘that healing service’ and after receiving prayer was hungry to learn more about the Lord Jesus and read His Word. Another lady to whom we ministered had come with a great deal of unrecognized emotional wounds. Following prayer her face simply lit up and it was as if a huge weight of sorrow had been lifted from her. Although we only had a brief time to minister, we know with confidence that eternal differences were made to some people that day.

glasgow prayerWe had looked forward to this visit since it entered the diary last spring and we give praise to a God who does not disappoint. Thank you for all of your prayer support for this memorable day and to the QPB team for leading the worship and helping with the organisation.

Sunday saw Jan up on the platform preaching at the Sunday morning service. She shared her testimony to a full church and caught the imagination of us all with her deep joy and enthusiasm in the Lord. Hearts were touched and many responded to a call for God to restore and refresh visions that had become dimmed or lost.

Our final day with QPB was on the Monday morning when we had the opportunity to teach and minister to the EQUIP Course, a special teaching and discipleship course started by the Church in September. I had the privilege of teaching on the subject of the Early Church in Acts and was able to share some of the missionary work of Flame International before we closed with a short time of ministry. The highlight of this morning was the powerful prayer both Jan and I received from the students. Many words of prophecy were spoken over us, all to be tested, but some affirmed words spoken previously. What a joy it was to be with young people who are enthusiastic in their faith and keen to grow in the Lord. What a privilege it was and I thank God for this wonderful time together.’

Flame International would like to thank the Senior Pastor, Rev Edwin Gunn and all at Queens Park Baptist for their encouragement and support of our vision. Further details of services and the EQUIP course can be found at the church website www.qpbc.org.
