Interview Jon Liggins

What impact have you seen from writing the first book?
Lighting Fires in the Dark – the first book I wrote about Flame – was about its first decade up to 2015 and has had a remarkably long shelf life. It has proved a good introduction to Flame, its activities and the wonderful results of its ministry. Personally, I have found it an excellent conversation starter, and I know people have been deeply moved as they have read it. One objective in writing it was for four people or more to become paid-up members of the Kingdom. Whether any have is beyond my knowledge but the interest readers have shown is encouraging.
Tell us a bit about the new book and what we can expect from it.
The Beacons are Lit is principally a book of real-life stories of how God had been pleased to work through Flame’s ministry in its second decade, bringing healing spiritually and often physically. These ‘sound bites’ are from a much wider geographical spread than before. Hopefully, you can expect encouragement, material with which to get interesting conversations going and to see more people more deeply involved in Flame’s work! You can expect also to appreciate the widening sphere of Flame’s operations.
What are your hopes for the book?
Well, for all the above but for it to have a ‘pebble effect,’ with one person reading it, becoming enthused about Flame and passing their copy to another person who will then repeat the process. Specifically, though, for another four people to become Christians through reading it. We’ve been praying for this from the outset. Britain has seemed like a spiritual desert over many decades, with seemingly unanswered prayer reflecting that. In researching the book, I have been encouraged by the results of Flame’s increased work at home, and I really hope that this beacon will burn yet brighter: I do believe there is a ‘quiet revival’ spiritually going on here.
